Wedding invitations really don't need to be sent out more than two months in advance, because if you send them out too early you run the risk of people forgetting altogether or losing the invitations and RSVP cards. For your bridal shower, I would say send your invites out a little more than a month in advance, and then give them up to 2 weeks before the shower to RSVP (maybe 3 if it is at a hall or country club, and not someone's house).
