what do you think is the appropriate value for bridal party gifts?
mrs_c_pina asked:
My wedding is not for another year, but I would just like an idea of how much should be spent on each on my groomsmen and bridesmaids. they are all doing alot for this wedding so i want to show them im very appreciative. i want to give them something above average, but i dont know what average is to begin with…. so what is the average value of a bridal party gift?? so i know where to work from there.

I would say average is about 30
But it depends on how big your bridal party is…
It would depend on your budget and the amount of people. My brother got married and they had a small bridal party. 3 bridesmaids, 3 flower girls and 3 groomsmen. We were given a pair of earring (all the BMs and FGs) that we wore on the day of the wedding. They weren’t overly fancy but pretty and matched our gowns. The males were given $100 Amex gift cards. Being that the bridal party consisted of mostly family I think they were extra generous. You could purchase costume jewelry for your BMs and if you like the idea about the Amex gift cards you could just do $50 or $75. Again it depends on your budget.
I spent about $50 on my bridesmaids. I put $20 toward their dress, necklace/earring set for the wedding, and a personal gift.
It depends on your budget. Brides.com offers a free budget tool that tells you what percentage of the budget should be delegated for attendant gifts. I put in a sample number — for a $20,000 wedding with 100 guests, your attendant gifts (remember this is groomsmen and bridesmaids) is estimated to be $559.
Having said this, here are some traditional ideas that you can’t go wrong with:
1. Piece of jewelry to wear on the wedding day
2. Pay for their hair appt or makeup appt on the day of
3. Treat them all to a manicure, or buy salon gift certificates for them
4. I bought my maids cute Victoria Secret pajamas
For men,
1. We purchased Best Buy gift certificates and everyone was thrilled
2. Engraved money clip/flask/beer stein
3. Cigars, if your guys are into that
Congratulations, and good luck with the rest of the planning!
I spent $60 each on their gifts: tote bags with lotions, compact mirror, lip gloss, and Kleen Kanteen water bottle. Plus I made them necklaces to match their dresses (included in ths $60 price). I also paid for their hairstyles on the wedding day ($40 each).
So I guess my answer is $100 or so!
