Go to a garden shop and ask them to sell you a plastic package of 4, 6 or 8 small annual plants. This could be any kind of flower or plant. I think it is a great idea. When my dad
died (he was a fantastic gardener) instead of a funeral we had a memorial service. As the guests left we gave them each a package of flower seeds and asked them to plant them either in their garden or somewhere else in memory of my father.

Very easy. It is a pack of 6 annuals you buy at a nursery. It is flowers. So that she can plant them in her garden. Coleus, dahilia, ageratum, marigolds, impatiens, or begionias are a good choice.

I think they mean live plants. Go to a greenhouse and you will find that they sell flowers in packs of 4 to 6 plants that can be transplanted into the garden. These plant are not fully grown but once transplanted, they will continue to grow. An annual plant is one that survives only one growing season and will not survive the cold weather of winter. Ask someone at the greenhouse to point them out to you. Some common annuals are petunias, marigolds, lobelia, alyssum, geraniums, etc.

It sounds to me like they are asking you to bring a "pony-pack of annual flowers"...meaning plants. (It's too late in the season to plant any seeds this year) Pony packs are sold at your local garden center in containers holding 4-8 plants per pack. Usually, all flowers sold in pony-packs are annual plants...meaning they live for one season, and die in the winter. They need to be replanted "annually." A few good ones to bring would be pansies, marigolds, snapdragons, cosmos, or petunias. Have fun!

That is a nice cheap present to take! Get a packet of annual seeds, such as zinnia, salvia, or alyssum, among dozens of choices. Go to your local garden center and you will see all the packets hanging there.
