I had between 15-20 people at my shower and it was great! I do not like huge showers where you have to watch the bride open gifts for hours...honestly, I didn't even like opening gifts at my own shower. It's not that I didn't appreciate what everyone got me (I did register for it after all!), but I am not a person who likes to be the center of attention.

I think most of the bridal showers I've attended have been fairly small (less than 25 people).

You are funny!

Counting myself there were 19 people at my bridal shower. There were some people who couldn't make it of course but I had a "bridal tea party" and we had the best time! You don't need 50 people there to have a great shower; I don't know who or what gave you that idea. It's a bummer that some of your family can't make it because they are far away, but you can't do anything about that. I don't have tons of friends myself so I made sure to check with my bridesmaids & friends that I really wanted to be there on dates they would be able to make it. The most important people will make it a point to be there for you.

But don't feel like a loser, if your lucky you'll only be a bride once in your life so just enjoy the moments where all the attention is on you and everyone gets together for YOU! Whether it's 5 people or 105 people, the ones who are there came for you so feel special! Congrats!

There were less than 15 at my shower, I can tell you that much! My family and friends are spread all over the place, in fact the only time they could plan it was when I was home over Christmas. I wouldnt have had it any other way!

Big showers are impersonal gift-grabs. There is nothing worse than sitting through present.. after present.. after present.. being opened. After 10 gifts, its hard to keep up the oohing and ahhing. In my opinion, the best showers are small, intimate affairs that have gifts yes, but also allow time for chatting and where the bride can relax. Somehow the maid of honor yelling out game instructions to a crowded room just isnt the cozy affair I hope for.

Hi. That is the perfect size!! I hate large bridal showers. They take forever. That will be a nice size. I have gone to some with only about 6 people there!

I was one of the hostesses at a shower a couple of weeks ago and we had about 18 people there. We enjoyed ourselves and had fun. It isn't any fun if it is so loud you cant hear each other because so many people are there. Also it kept us from having to run ourselves to death with taking care of too many guests. I know Amanda loved being able to spend time with everyone instead of being pulled from person to person.

Don't worry. I didn't even have a bridal shower. I moved to another state to live with my boyfriend a few years ago, and we're getting married on Wednesday. I never made many friends here. The only people at my wedding will be my parents, brother, and step-son. Then my parents are treating about 15 people total (pretty much all my boyfriend's friends and their girlfriends/wives, but that's okay) to dinner that night for a little celebration.
I'm still thrilled and very excited. The most important people in my life will be there, and that's good for me!
I also think that once you go over 15 people, it's not as intimate anymore. People form little groups and it's not one big group anymore.

Because my husband and I are older, and already had established homes, I asked my matron of honor not to throw a shower. She obliged, but my work friends wanted to show their support, so they threw a small surprise shower. There were about a dozen people there. It actually was quite nice. Being that small made it fun to open and pass the gifts, rather than being a boring ordeal for the guests, and everyone was able to chat and visit with everyone else. Showers don't need to be big (in fact, I think the whole thing has gotten way out of hand--showers used to be just close family and friends, not every woman invited to the wedding).
